💥British Podcast Awards 2024 Announces Chair of Judges Team: Hannah Maguire, Suruthi Bala, and Leanne Alie"

The true crime duo Hannah Maguire and Suruthi Bala of the popular podcast RedHanded, along with podcast producer, presenter, and commissioner Leanne Alie, a well-known figure in the UK podcast industry, comprise the Chair of Judges team for the British Podcast Awards 2024.

Hannah Maguire & Suruthi Bala's popular podcast RedHanded has won Gold in the Listener's Choice category at the British Podcast Awards for three consecutive years and is consistently at the top of the UK podcast charts and also has huge international reach. Last year, they also launched the limited true-crime series, Filthy Ritual, with Novel and Global about one of the most prolific fraudsters in British history; Juliette D'Souza, which will be adapted for television by ITV. 🚀 Edison Research's Sports Audio Report Unveils Shifting Trends in Sports Fandom and Consumption

In the first-ever Sports Audio Report, Edison Research examined how audio content affects fans' interactions with teams and sports. In this study, more than 3,500 Americans who identify as sports fans and are at least 13 years old participated. According to the report, audiences from a variety of backgrounds and younger generations are becoming more diverse sports fans, and they do so in unique ways. At 59% of fans, the NFL is the most watched sport or league in the country. Younger fans of sports are more likely to be devoted to their teams and to the players' lives. The survey also showed that younger audiences and a wider range of demographics are becoming more interested in women's sports. Every day, Americans listen to audio content for more than two hours and twenty-six minutes; Gen Z and millennials are most accustomed to listening to sports podcasts. Sports audio offers fans intelligence, camaraderie, and distinct viewpoints. Sports fans watch and listen to sports content at rates of 89% and 64%, respectively. A year's worth of sports merchandise and memorabilia costs an average of $262 for listeners of sports audio. Sports fans' innate faith in their favourite players results in successful advertisements and higher levels of interaction with sports-related content. When expanding their reach and overall presence in sports, brands should take audio into account as it is an essential part of holistic media investments. [Read more ]

🚨Increased Online Audio Consumption: From Terrestrial Radio to Spotify and Pandora

Weekly audio listening in America has reached an all-time high, with 200M Americans tuning in every week and 214M monthly. This growth is attributed to a shift towards brands like Spotify and Pandora, preferred by almost half of all online audio users.

Podcast listenership has also increased, with 120M monthly listeners, with over 50% of listeners consuming 9 episodes per week. In 2023, listeners are more diverse, with 55% of 12-34 year-olds, 51% 35-54 year-olds, and 21% of 55+ year-olds.

  • Clickable Chapters are now supported by the Captivate podcast player. Your chapters, along with any artwork and hyperlinks you use, will now be shown when someone uses the Captivate player on the free Captivate Site, embedded on your own website, through Captivate Sync, or directly on X (formerly Twitter).

  • The news website Puck, which two years ago turned the weekly podcast The Powers That Be into a daily programme, is introducing its most ambitious endeavour to date. It has partnered with Audacy Podcast to produce the twice-weekly Fashion People podcast. The podcast, which will be a continuation of Puck's subscription newsletter The Line Sheet, will be hosted by fashion expert Lauren Sherman.
