Crossed Wires Festival announces Sheffield's Bethel Chapel as venue to host The Fringe: the festival's free offering.Launching this Summer, Crossed Wires festival is assembling the nation's top names in podcasting in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, for one weekend.From Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June, Sheffield’s most iconic venues will be packed for blockbuster lives shows, never-seen-before performances and special guests. The star-studded lineup of names includes, Katherine Ryan, Adam Buxton, Brown Girls Do It Too, Danny Robins, Katie Price, Jon Ronson, Romesh Ranganathan & Tom Davis and Robert Diamond & Russell Tovey.Alongside the ticketed events, Crossed Wires is proud to introduce The Fringe â€“ a free venue dedicated to showcasing the industry's vibrant talent and offering creative experiences that money can't buy.The Fringe will take place in the heart of Sheffield's city centre, nestled in Bethel Chapel, just steps away from City Hall. This iconic building was once home to the beloved Coles toyshop and now Crossed Wires Festival is poised to present an exciting one off event before it opens as a new music venue later this year.The opening of The Fringe will be kicked off by a night of free music on Friday, including a DJ set from award-winning musician Self-Esteem, which attendees can wash down with a special 'Podcask' beer at the official Crossed Wires Bar.Across the weekend, Bethel Chapel will host a range of free events, workshops and talks, all designed to unleash the creativity of this rapidly evolving industry. This will be further complimented by the adjoining food hall, Cambridge Street Collective, providing a space to eat, meet and socialise amongst the action.Free shows on offer across the weekend include: 

Football HeavenThe team will take to Sheffield City Hall's Oval Hall, for an on-stage celebration of the South Yorkshire institution, covering the region's highs and lows of football. With special guests including the assistant manager of Royal Oak FC Steve Bracknall, this is Football Heaven like you’ve never seen it before!The Naked PodcastTwo friends, one guest, no clothes. Best mates Jenny Eells and Kat Harbourne are on a mission to challenge the ways we think about our bodies. Join Jen and Kat for a wild ride, as they bring their candid and revealing conversations to the stage... possibly making you question everything that's underneath your clothes!Tortoise presents... Alexi Mostrous in conversation with Charlie WebsterTwo Titans of investigative podcasting take to the stage to share their secrets and discuss investigative journalism in podcasting. Tortoise’s Alexi Monstrous is behind some of the most talked about podcasts of the past few years, including Sweet Bobby, Hoaxed and Who Trolled Amber? Charlie Webster is an award-winning broadcaster and creator of the hit true crime show, Scamanda.The Price of Music with Steve LamacqBritish radio DJ Steve Lamacq is a widely respected and influential broadcaster, having spent three decades on BBC Radio One and BBC 6 Music. Music Ally’s Stuart Dredge has been writing about the business side of the music industry for two decades. Together, they demystify the music industry and look at the money behind the business.The Fringe will transform the Bethel Chapel into a hub of entertainment and education curated for the whole family. Kids will be able to enjoy the soft play area before an afternoon of storytelling, whilst students and adults can attend workshops to learn the ropes of the audio industry before heading to one of the venue's eclectic mix of live shows.Truly sharing a vision for a significant and inspiring national festival outside London, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority will be Crossed Wires' regional partner and host sponsor. Sheffield City Council have also awarded funds to help firmly place the festival on the UK's cultural calendar.Tickets available now at CrossedWires.Live
