Descript welcomes SquadCast. Simple, dependable remote recording and all-in-one editing

SquadCast has been bought by Descript.

The founder of Descript, Andrew Mason, stated that SquadCast and Descript had partnered to create the most dependable remote recording solution available.

"If you subscribe to Descript, you now also have the most dependable remote recording solution available — free. If you already have SquadCast, you can now access Descript as well, and you'll probably pay less than you did before, according to Mason.

He said,the reasons we’re joining forces with SquadCast go well beyond just remote recording. SquadCast gives you local recording in up to 4K video, so you and your guests are always captured in the highest quality, with automatic backups for each person, and no need to worry about internet glitches.

Mason provided some context for the implementation of the SquadCast-Descript integration. Two phases will take place.

SquadCast will remain a standalone service in phase one, with two major changes, according to Mason. The integration with Descript has been greatly simplified, which is the first factor. The second is related to cost. SquadCast is now offered without charge to paying Descript customers. Phase 1 starts right now.

He added that in phase two, we'll completely incorporate SquadCast's technology into Descript and shut down the standalone service. This implies that you can record remotely from the Descript app and have the recordings ready for editing as soon as you're done. Although we're working on it, we don't yet have a specific date. In the upcoming weeks, more information will be provided.
