Podchaser, the intelligence engine of the podcast industry, today announced that its AI-powered Collections+ targeting capability has enabled an extra 24% of Acast's podcast creators to monetize their content in its first year of operation.

The Reason: This it attributes to the improvement in Collections+, making targeting easier for the advertisers to find the right podcasts. Podchaser developed Collections+ to optimize targeting around podcasts after finding out that the majority of podcast advertisers targeted very few of their desired audiences.

Zoom In: That means 44% of all US podcast advertising investments went to the top 500 shows in 2023 alone; these account for just 12% of the total monthly audience and would suggest that 88% of the potential podcast audiences were not reached by advertisers.

Zoom Out: Since its start, Collections+ has doubled the number of verticals featuring the average show, adding more than 4,000 shows to sales categories and creating additional revenue opportunities for podcasters. This added scale for advertisers has seen half of all advertising buys for Acast use Collections+ in the first half of 2024.

Why it Matters: Bradley Davis, CEO of Podchaser, says, "Collections+ is the linchpin to making a healthy, vibrant podcast ecosystem possible. It increases podcast visibility from advertisers and allows 24% more creators to earn money from ads.".

Our take as podcast producers: Collections+ really turned the tables on podcasters from the perspective of advertisers and creators looking for success. With this additional transparency and presented income opportunities, podcast producers can refocus their attention on producing premium content while fully capitalizing on the growing ad market.
