Entries open today for the 2024 International Women's Podcast Awards.

Now in its 4th year, the awards will take place on Wednesday 19th June at the IET London: Savoy Place with an accompanying global livestream, bringing together podcasters, audio professionals, and podcast enthusiasts to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in podcasting worldwide.

Entries are now being accepted across 10 categories, details of which can be found here.

As in previous years, it is exceptional ‘moments’ of audio brilliance that will be rewarded at the IWPAs. There is no restriction on what genre or ‘type’ of podcast can enter each category – as the team often say, you don’t have to be a comedy podcast to create a hilarious moment of podcasting gold.

There are ten categories to choose from this year, including a new category, the Moment of Factual Clarity, which has been introduced following feedback from podcasters globally in 2023. The Moment of Factual Clarity category is about clear communication of ideas. If you’ve heard a podcast that has featured an expert or subject matter specialist talking about their area of interest and expertise that blew you away, or if you’ve created a podcast that really informs the listener as well as entertaining them, and is doing so in a brilliantly clear and simple way, then this is the category to think about.

Last year, categories were established for the Moment of Compelling Storytelling and the Moment of Podcasting Panache in a Language Other Than English, with the aim of showcasing work from around the world in multiple languages. Both these categories proved popular with some exceptional entries, and the team is looking forward to seeing the entries submitted in 2024.

Entry fees for the 2024 awards are unchanged from last year, costing ÂŁ25 per entry for independent and charity productions, and ÂŁ60 for corporate entries or those from production companies. However, the IWPA Bursary Fund will be open, offering complimentary entry to anyone, anywhere in the world, with no questions asked. The Bursary Fund will once again be supported by Amazon Music and Wondery in 2024, with this scheme now in its third year. All that is required is completion of a short form which can be found here. On submission, entrants will then receive a code for complimentary entry.

The International Women's Podcast Awards recognises and honours the outstanding contributions made by a wide range of folks in the podcasting sector, from those who are self-taught and producing shows solo, to those part of larger teams at established audio companies.

This year's event will showcase the remarkable work and creative excellence of podcasters across ten categories. From educational and informative shows, to captivating storytelling, the International Women's Podcast Awards will recognise those creating exceptional work. A panel of judges consisting of podcasters, journalists, and experienced professionals will evaluate the submitted entries and select the winners across all categories.

"We are delighted to have opened entries for this year's International Women's Podcast Awards," said Naomi Mellor, the founder of the awards. "We were blown away by the number and quality of entries received in 2023, and cannot wait to hear the audio submitted this year. We love to celebrate and showcase work that’s been produced, as podcasting is a powerful medium that provides a platform for people to tell their story, showcase their work, and have their voice heard. We encourage all podcasters to submit their entries and be a part of this event. The IWPA Bursary will also once again be open, offering complimentary entries and tickets to anyone, worldwide."

Craig Strachan, Global Head of Podcast Industry at Amazon Music added; “We’re thrilled to team up with the International Women’s Podcast Awards again this year and to continue our support for the Bursary Fund. Providing accessibility to key industry events for those that might otherwise find submitting or attending cost prohibitive is really important to the team and I, and we can’t wait to see who takes home awards this year.”

About the International Women's Podcast Awards:

The International Women's Podcast Awards is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates the incredible moments of podcasting brilliance created by women worldwide. The IWPAs are proudly queer and trans inclusive.

By acknowledging their influential work in podcasting across various genres, the event aims to empower and amplify these voices in the industry.

The joy of podcasting lies in the intimacy of the listening experience, in the atmosphere created between the host, guest, and listener, and in the moments of incredible sensitivity, humour or honesty that keep people engrossed. The International Women’s Podcast Awards celebrate these intimate moments of podcasting brilliance, and the women and folk of diverse genders that make them happen.

The IWPAs is unlike other awards. It doesn’t matter what genre your podcast is, or how many downloads the work has had. It’s about the quality, and how it makes the listener feel.
