๐ฅEnhancing Podcast Experience: Spotify's Comment Feature
Spotify is testing a Comments feature for podcast creators to have a much-needed tool, engaging with their fans while managing the shows.
The feature will be the following:
This feature of Spotify for Podcasters increases engagement in podcasting. It aids the podcast hosts to get feedback in the form of comments, which further helps these hosts work better and be closer to an audience. It provides engagement with listeners, existence management, checking of statistics, and real-time growth to the podcasters. This has also provided listeners an opportunity for two-way communication with their favorite podcast hosts, thereby setting up a relation between the hosts and audiences.
Why does this Matter ?
All-new, enhanced Spotify for Podcasters mobile app to improve the podcasting experience for creators and listeners alike, Interactive listeners come back up to four times more frequently to a show within 30 days, and can yield up to twice as many lengths per month as the ones that didn't make use of the interactive features. Join chat with fans as they watch or listen to the shows of favorite podcasters.
Finally, with Spotify's comment feature, podcasters and listeners alike will find advantages in the fact that it will be more organized on Spotify with podcasters present and provide them with the opportunity to communicate and engage their fans.
Our Take :
Of course, for those who produce podcasts, these new features will give much better levels of interactivity and engagement. Seeking feedback and being able to respond will surely help us tailor the content much better to the taste and personality of the audience.

๐จHow Cultural Differences Affect Podcast Consumption
There are quite some differences between the podcast listening habits of the UK and those of the US. In the UK, a higher percent of the weekly listeners were likely to listen while walking or during their daily activities. In the US, it's only 6% who fit this description. This comes from a recent study that pollsters Edison Research conducted.
The revelations :
Whereas British listeners use public transportation to listen to podcasts at 6 percent, American listeners have a mere preference of 2 percent, with 14 percent walking.
This comes as more Americans are sipping weekly podcasts in cars because of car-centric commutes, with 15 percent of respondents being primarily American listeners in the car, with only 10 percent doing so in the UKโa distinct cultural difference in how podcasts are being listened to between the two countries.
The Data and Sources :
Edison Podcast MetricsTM, a source that has been gathering specific data on podcast listening in the U.S. and the UK for more than a year, offers this week's information on podcast listening locations.
Why does it matter to podcast producers?
It just makes sense that knowing where listeners are most likely to listen can help podcast producers tailor their programming to their audience. They can base decisions on episode lengthโfor instance, formatโand even potentially partnerships with transportation or walking tour companies off the back of where their audience is consuming content.
Our Take
This information can help podcast producers make conscious decisions in an attempt to reach and engage their audience as much as possible. The producers can utilize the information to improve listener engagement by developing content and marketing strategies to attract more podcast followers.
