Discovering Podfest Asia: How I Came Across the Premier Podcasting Event
Today’s email is brought to you by Empower your podcasting vision with a suite of creative solutions at your fingertips.
Hi there! I’m Joan, an audio/video podcast editor, and I had the incredible opportunity to attend the inaugural Podfest Asia last May 8, 2024, at One Ayala West Tower, 1 Ayala Avenue, Makati City.
Let me share my experience with you! I frequently came across mentions of Podfest on various podcast Facebook pages I follow, so I was absolutely thrilled when I received the Valuepod newsletter about the event. As I perused the lineup of speakers, I felt a surge of excitement to join!
On the night of May 7th, I embarked on an incredible nine-hour bus journey from Camarines Sur province.
It was my first time availing of a sleeper bus, ensuring I'd have enough energy for the day's activities. I even rushed to print my business podcast audio editing service logo, sharing the photo on my Facebook account and inviting others attending Podfest Asia to say hi if they spotted me.

The next day, May 8th, I arrived at the venue hall, and guess who was the first person to recognize me? Ron Baetiong, Founder and CEO at Podcast Network Asia, greeted me with a firm handshake and a warm welcome to Podfest Asia. He said he saw my post about coming here, and he was right! This is the power of social media.
Let me share some of my key takeaways from this jam-packed event!
✅ Chris Krimitsos, the CEO of Podfest, emphasized the importance of ensuring your show is easily discoverable via keywords. This is crucial, especially if you're targeting a specific niche. He is also a wonderful host during the panel interview!
✅ Niall Mackay discussed 10 steps to streamline podcast editing with Descript. As a podcast editor, I found this topic particularly relevant! He also shared some amazing AI tools that can be used, along with their pros and cons. His advice to "hire someone you connect with and who is more than just an editor" really resonated with me.
✅Todd Cochrane, Founder of Blubrry, talked about the incredible power of video podcasting. He highlighted how listeners and viewers are increasingly investing in long-form video podcasts and emphasized the importance of being present on multiple platforms to engage with your audience. He also introduced Vid2Pod, a game-changing tool that automatically converts YouTube playlists into audio podcasts. Eloisa Almonicido and Ce Mercadao discussed the essentials of podcast monetization, emphasizing the importance of understanding your audience and developing a strategy to market, sell, and monetize your show. These amazing women continue to share their knowledge and love with our community, and I'm so grateful for their guidance!
✅ Mikey Bustos, a vlogger, shared his best practices for winning on YouTube as a content creator. One key takeaway was his advice to avoid faceless content when starting a YouTube channel. He said that it can lead to content scarcity in the long run, unless you have an extravagant life to share.

Wally Green, a successful table tennis player and podcaster, stressed the importance of sharing your story to save lives in an inspiring way.
The following speaker really resonates with me the most! I'm also really excited to meet my podfriends and mentors, whom I usually interact with via Zoom or chat. I'm so grateful to be surrounded by this incredible group of people whom I collaborate with and aspire to emulate in this field!
Podfeast Asia was an incredible experience that gave me a deeper understanding of podcasting and lots of valuable insights for my editing work.
