The news of Kristin Myers' appointment to Principal came from Sounds Profitable, the foremost trade association cum media intelligence firm supporting the podcast industry, upon the occurrence of Podcast Movement in Washington, D.C. Kristin will work directly with partner Tom Webster and company founder Bryan Barletta to influence the future of audio.
The Details:
Kristin will come on board with Sounds Profitable as executive director after over a decade working in the audio industry. She will help explore audio opportunities in film, TV, books, gaming, and non-profit sectors as well as in emerging technologies. Kristin's appointment will enhance the association's consulting capabilities.
She was Director of Business Development at Stitcher, before it was acquired by SiriusXM. She helped with negotiation and strategy for Earwolf, Exactly Right Media, and Team Coco regarding on-platform launches and renewals.
At Anchor, the first hire for the community team, post acquisition by Spotify. Kristin spent the first year working on Community Content Strategy, Partnerships, and App Features. She was also with Starburns Audio as Creative Director for everything programming/monetization/operations working on titles including Dan Harmon, the Sklar Brothers, My Favorite Murder, and Small Doses with Amanda Seales.
" I've worked in just about every corner of the audio industry, and I haven't been bored a single day," said Myers. " There is meaningful connective tissue forming between audio and all other forms of media and storytelling. And the job isn't about defining audio any more. It's the opposite. It's about re-imagining its role and how it can make an impact. Good business in our industry will be one that follows a holistic partnership approach to make it work for every person sitting at the table. Great business will do that while bravely building something we haven't seen yet. In every conversation I have with Bryan and Tom I am overwhelmed by a feeling of respect and excitement. They have an agnostic, informed, and fiercely curious approach to growing this space – and that's exactly what you need to make magic happen."
"Podcasting is now an unavoidable word in media, and the ramifications of this medium will have a tremendous affect on countless lives.". 'This course has weathered the last 20 years of open growth, a pandemic-fueled boom and bust, more than its fair share of SNL jokes at its expense, but ultimately proven how valuable it is globally as a form of entertainment and information,' added Bryan Barletta, founder of Sounds Profitable. "Kristin's addition to the Sounds Profitable team brings so much value to existing partners and amplifies what has been built over the last four years to major industries that recognize the importance of audio and podcasting in their strategies. We could not be more excited for this next phase of Sounds Profitable and podcasting overall."
