The 2024 State of Podcast Agencies report, published by CoHost, provided the most recent information and insights into the state of podcast agencies today.According to the report, 67% of podcast agencies employ ten or fewer people. This is a decrease from the 79% of agencies that had 10 or fewer employees in our 2023 State of Podcast Agencies report. Following that, the share of agencies with 11–20 workers falls to 19%, an increase from 6% in the previous year. We came upon an intriguing article by Big Technology newslette's Alex Kantrowitz regarding the most recent podcast scam, which involves people posing as producers of well-known shows in order to obtain access to the private accounts of requested guests.

Scammers are using people's vanity or desire for attention to their advantage, so fake podcast invites are popping up more frequently. In these scams, victims are invited to appear on a show, asked to provide a "tech check," and their credentials are stolen during setup.

Usually, during the setup, someone will pretend to be a producer from Barron's and ask for their credentials. Podcast scams have become more common as podcast popularity and status have grown. Examples of these include phoney podcast sets that are used to promote products and mobile game websites that manipulate download counts by offering in-game rewards. [Read more ]

The results of Jacobs Media's Techsurvey 2024 were released on Thursday. They show how the radio industry is doing with the most dedicated listeners. Between January 9 and February 11, 2024, 31,413 people from 500 commercial radio stations in the U.S. and Canada filled out the survey. This large set of information, gathered from radio station databases, websites, and social media, gives a clear picture of how listeners are acting and interacting right now. [Read more]

Podcast Recommendation

Second Sunday is a podcast about Black queer people finding, keeping, and sometimes losing faith in the Black church. Join hosts Darren and Esther as they take turns exploring the journey of each guest as they navigate religion, spirituality, culture, and identity. You’ll love this show if you have questions about religion, grew up around the Black church, and want to hear perspectives and a tiny bit of advice from people who have survived challenging moments and complicated feelings. Most of all, you’ll love this show if you enjoy listening to hosts who crack jokes first and ask questions later. Tune in to Second Sunday on The Qube or wherever you get your podcasts.
