🎧US Podcast Advertising Revenue Study Reveals Slowdown in Growth
The IAB's annual US Podcast Advertising Revenue Study found that podcast ad revenue growth slowed for the second year in a row in 2023, but it's on track to surpass $2 billion. In its podcast upfront last week, the IAB blamed “a challenging advertising climate that particularly affected mid-tier companies” for the slowdown. The report noted that a few of the largest podcasting companies saw double-digit growth, but the industry saw its first single-digit growth since 2015. [Read More]

Edison Research reports that two-thirds of Americans aged 12 and older have listened to a podcast, with a third weekly. The time people spend listening to on-demand audio shows the scale of that new media habit, according to new data. Edison reports a quadrupling in podcast listening time in the past decade. For those 13 and older, podcasts account for 11% of daily audio time in 2024. That's up from 2% in 2014. Podcasts now make up 20% of audio time just in ad-supported media.
Earlier , Megan Lazovick, Vice President at Edison Research, presented insights in a webinar, offering benchmark data on weekly and monthly U.S. podcast consumption. The presentation focused on foundational research findings in the podcast space and emphasized the targeted appeal and increasing influence of podcasts. [Read more]
