Podcast Meets Live Sports: Acast and C-Screens Deliver Groundbreaking Media Fusion at Rugby World Cup

In order to promote podcasts alongside the Rugby World Cup broadcast, Acast, the podcast platform and marketplace, and C-Screens, the industry-leading outside broadcast company, have developed a media-first campaign.

Hundreds of people have stopped by Television Centre in London to watch an outdoor broadcast from C-Screens of some of the key Rugby World Cup matches, beginning with France versus New Zealand as the opening match earlier this month.

Josh Woodhouse, Managing Director of Acast UK & Ireland: “This is truly a media first and showcases the potential power when podcasts with a visual element like The High-Performance Podcast and outside broadcasting with C-Screens come together. Clients can benefit from this relationship and association, and it’s a winning formula to combine out-of-home, digital and podcast advertising. Acast is ahead of the game when it comes to maximising podcast content for everyone’s benefit. This is a win for the creators themselves as it brings new audiences to the podcast, and for advertisers as it adds another channel to convey their messaging for consumers.”

Rugby podcast episodes from The High-Performance Podcast, a member of the Acast Creator Network, featuring Jonny Wilkinson, Maro Itoje, Dan Carter, and Kevin Sinfield, were broadcast during the breaks between the games.

Daniel Venes, Sales Controller, C-Screens: “Contextually, it’s a great fit, combining a rugby podcast with live World Cup games shown on a big screen. It has endless potential to commercially hit a hard-to-reach audience of young adults in a cost-efficient way. We’re excited to see how this media collaboration will grow and adapt.

The most valuable podcast marketplace in the world is called Acast. To monetize content and make sure podcast creators are paid for their work, it collaborates with thousands of podcasts including The High-Performance Podcast.
