🔥Triton Digital Discontinues Podcast Rankings in New Zealand

After measuring podcast listening in New Zealand since late 2021, Triton Digital is no longer releasing rankings in the market. This was confirmed to Podwires in a statement by Triton Digital President and CEO John Rosso.

The Statement

"Triton Digital, working with many publishers across the globe, is continually looking at ways to develop and grow podcast measurement and our podcast rankers. Following consultation with participating members of the New Zealand ranker, it has been decided to discontinue the release of a monthly ranking in New Zealand," said Mr Rosso.

Mr. Rosso added that publishers would also be in a position to utilize Podcast Metrics, the industry's leading measurement platform, to provide data and valuable insights to advertisers and buyers.

Triton Digital's measurement service, Podcast Metrics, has been certified by the IAB Tech Lab in adhering to Version 2.1 of the IAB Podcast Measurement Technical Guidelines.

About the NZ Podcast Ranker

The New Zealand Podcast Ranker is a total of the top 100 podcasts from participating New Zealand networks, ranked by popularity among their listeners. The chart is presented for a standard calendar month reporting period and ranked by the number of monthly listeners, in line with the latest IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines. The Ranker includes Audioboom, Brodie Kane Media, LiSTNR SCA, NBCUniversal News Group, Nova Entertainment, NZME/iHeartRadio/ARN, Rova MediaWorks, and SiriusXM Podcast Network. More to be added in future releases.

As previously mentioned, the last New Zealand rankers released publicly were those for January 2022. Triton still publishes podcast rankers for the markets of the U.S., Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Latin America, and the United Kingdom.

Why this matters

It allows advertisers to rank podcast networks by popularity, reach, and engagement. Ranking may further indicate listener preferences and aid in podcast development toward growth and monetization strategies for creators.
