🔥Singapore's Podcast Landscape: Educational Content Dominates
The most famous educational podcasts are in Singapore, with 28% of the monthly listeners. The branding in Asia website has reported a study by On Device, a brand lift measurement company.
The Revelations:
According to the research, podcast listening in Singapore stands at an average of 1.8 hours per day. Technology, self-improvement, and business are the subjects of interest that are most popular in podcasts among Singaporeans.
The least popular topics are fashion, celebrity rumors, and conspiracy theories. Podcasts are more popular in Singapore during weekend evenings than in Australia and the UK.
Daily podcast listeners are 67% more likely to listen to broadcast radio. 81% prefer podcasts on mobile. Popular podcast platforms include YouTube and Spotify. Listening was driven by 58% entertainment and 34% commuting.
Why does this matter?
Thus, compared with the UK, mobile device engagement is higher in Singapore, and there is more leaning toward educational content compared to sports. For marketers and media agencies, podcast trends of consumption in Singapore are very relevant to understand, as this opens up a large market gap which will require increasing the budget dedicated to advertising on podcasts.

🚨Triton Digital's Acquisition of Sounder Enhances Podcast Advertising
The acquisition of AI-driven audio insights platform Sounder has gone a long way to rewrite how podcast content is packaged and create contextual campaigns that meet brand suitability mandates stipulated by the advertisers, according to Triton Digital Senior Vice President for Podcast Strategy and Product Operations Sharon Taylor in a blog post on LinkedIn.
The Revelations :
Triton Digital is going to enhance podcast creator and advertiser advertising experiences via this acquisition.
Taylor said Its integration into Triton Digital's tech stack makes the transition of clients easier and offers benefits to both the clients by the integration of teams. Integrating Sounder into Omny Studio actually empowers publishers to analyze episodes quickly before publishing to a brand suitability platform, for either direct sales or programmatic ads.
A model of brand suitability, based on observation alone, does not efficiently accommodate the unique needs of either buyer or seller, in effect, limiting its effectiveness. Like geo-targeting or a DMP, Sounder can be placed in the ad stack, offer a dashboard, but the data security and loss-of-information problems aren't quite fixed.
A buyer could now be looking at a dashboard from a provider with the brand safety scores for shows they monitored a week or two later, which increases the length and complication of the process.
If the publisher has integrated the brand safety system into their stack, then they would be aware that their ad would be running only on eligible episodes; it retains podcast buyers with targeting for the ad of people having an interest in Adobe DMP.
Why does it matter?
Taylor said Sounder joined Triton Digital's tech stack to improve industry brand safety and suitability. The platform helps podcasters assess audio content for brand and contextual targeting.
According to Sounder, keywords alone simply cannot point to specific topics, like podcast swear words. Cultural differences and dialect differences mean podcast revenues vary far and wide, further illustrating the need for context in generating revenue.
Sounder trains its models with podcast publishers and buyers across 86 countries, adding languages, showcasing the global approach and impact. Sounder helps podcast networks prepare for the future of podcasting. By having the defensive card, podcast publishers have the ability to facilitate brand suitability conversations when they are in control.
Our View :
It is understanding cultural nuances and context that could underpin potential revenue maximization in this moving podcast landscape. On this note, Sounder's global approach toward training models specific to a language makes them a valuable partner for such podcasters who are eyeing international expansion.
