Today, Wondery announces its new true crime anthology podcast series Happily Never After and its inaugural season, Happily Never After: Dan & Nancy. In the vein of Wondery’s signature true crime franchises, including Dr. Death, Over My Dead Body and Suspect, Happily Never After continues the tradition of emotionally driven, immersive stories with compelling characters that audiences crave. Each original season of Happily Never After will feature real-life bad romance stories of love gone awry and the unbelievable aftermath. Happily Never After: Dan & Nancy debuts exclusively on Wondery+ on May 6th, and will be available everywhere podcasts are available starting June 3rd.

In Happily Never After: Dan & Nancy, listeners are introduced to writer Nancy Brophy, who fills her novels with romantic betrayals and murder. It’s a far cry from her quiet life in the Portland suburbs, where she and her chef husband, Dan, are living out their golden years. But when Dan is shot dead, Nancy finds herself at the center of a murder case that could be ripped from the pages of her novels. Were the police confusing Nancy’s novels with reality, or could they see something that her friends, family and community couldn’t?

The series is hosted by fellow novelist Heidi Thretheway, who was a member of Nancy’s writing club and brings her first-hand knowledge and insights to the twisted tale. The series also features reenacted scenes and original audio clips from the police investigation, resulting in an engrossing and comprehensive docuseries.
