What is GearDex

GearDex keeps one reliable record of the equipment behind a show. Every camera, lens, accessory (mics, lights, recorders), filter or drone gets its serial number, photos, purchase price, current value, condition, storage location, receipts and warranty files, and Record Readiness flags anything still missing a serial or a receipt. Getting an existing list in is quick: Smart Add turns a plain sentence or a photo into gear records you review, and CSV import checks every row before saving.

For recording days, shoot plans cover locations, call sheets and crew contacts, checklists, weather and sun times; Pro adds packing manifests built from the gear you own, a shot list workspace and a PDF of the plan. Pro also keeps warranty alerts and a one-click insurance PDF ready, and the Studio plan adds equipment loans, maintenance schedules and an availability board for teams that share kit.

It runs in any browser and as a native Mac app (macOS 13+). Starter is free for 25 items; Pro is $39/yr and Studio $179/yr. Every plan exports ZIP, JSON or CSV, and the built-in Iris assistant never edits anything without your approval. Made by Dylan Andersen, a photographer and developer in Irvine, California.
