This page covers the PodToolbox extension for Google Chrome. It does not cover the PodToolbox website, which has its own privacy policy.
What the extension collects
Your name and email address. You type them once, in the extension’s settings. They are stored in Chrome on your own computer, and they are sent to podwires.com with each recommendation you make.
The page you are on, at the moment you click the icon. The extension reads the page’s web address, title, description and logo so the form arrives pre-filled. It reads nothing else, and it reads nothing at all until you click the toolbar icon.
What you type. Your reason for recommending the tool, and a star rating if you give one.
What is done with it
Everything above is sent to podwires.com when — and only when — you press Send. It creates a pending entry in the PodToolbox directory for an editor to review.
- Your name and your reason are published alongside the tool if the recommendation is approved.
- Your email address is not published. It is used to contact you about your recommendation, and nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list, sold, or passed to any third party.
- If you gave a star rating, your reason is also posted as a review on the tool’s page, held for moderation first.
What is not collected
No browsing history. No analytics or tracking. No advertising identifiers. The extension has no content script, so it is not present on pages where you have not clicked its icon.
Third parties
Once a recommendation arrives, podwires.com asks Anthropic’s Claude API to research the tool — its features, pricing and category — using public web sources. Your name, email and your own words are not sent to Anthropic. Only the tool’s name and website address are.
Removing your data
Delete your name and email from the extension’s settings, or remove the extension, and nothing further is stored on your computer. To have a recommendation you sent removed from podwires.com, email info@podwires.com.
