British Podcast Awards Names First-Ever Ambassadors for 2026 Edition

Revolutionary Ambassador Program Launches for Tenth Anniversary

The British Podcast Awards has introduced its first-ever Ambassador program ahead of the 2026 ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, October 1st at indigo at The O2. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant evolution in the awards’ approach to recognizing industry leadership and emerging talent.

The inaugural ambassadors include acclaimed Life After Prison hosts Zak Addae-Kodua and Jules Rowan, alongside 2025 Rising Star winner Mia Thornton. This diverse group will play an instrumental role in representing the UK podcast industry and championing outstanding work across all genres.

Transforming the Judging Process

Born from industry-wide feedback, the Ambassador program replaces the traditional Chair of Judges role with a more collaborative approach. The ambassadors will work alongside over 200 judges from across British podcasting, bringing broader perspectives to the evaluation process and actively participating in selecting Editor’s Choice winners.

Life After Prison Hosts Break New Ground

Zak Addae-Kodua and Jules Rowan have redefined perceptions around prison and life after release through their groundbreaking podcast. Working with the Prison Radio Association (PRA), which won Gold for Best Network/Publisher in 2025, they provide unfiltered insights into life beyond bars while candidly sharing their own experiences of forging new paths in society.

Their show has featured notable guests including musicians Hak Baker and Scorcher, and Britain’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer finalist Nabil Abdulrashid. The hosts have conducted compelling conversations with prison governors, county lines grooming victims, and provided inspiration for those navigating life after release.

“It’s a huge blessing to be chosen as a BPAs Ambassador. Having won previously, it’s a very prestigious ceremony and something that means a lot to me. Winning something like this, especially with the journey and career I have had, it’s incredible,” said Zak Addae-Kodua.

Rising Star Brings Fresh Perspective

Mia Thornton, the 2025 Rising Star winner, represents the next generation of podcast talent. From co-founding the Go Off, Sis podcast during university to working with BBC Sounds Audio Lab program, Thornton has established herself as both a cultural storyteller and skilled audio producer.

Her work includes producing and hosting Instrumental: Black British Trailblazers, showcasing Black artists who have revolutionized UK music. She has also collaborated with international brands and UK community initiatives including New Balance, Black Ballad, and the NHS.

Entry Deadline Approaching

The first entry deadline for the 2026 British Podcast Awards is April 30th, 2026. The ceremony promises to bring together podcasters, celebrities, and industry leaders to celebrate the incredible scope of UK podcasting.

This tenth anniversary celebration represents a pivotal moment for the British podcast industry, with the new Ambassador program ensuring that diverse voices and emerging talent continue to shape the medium’s future.
