Intro to Adobe Audition is a beginner-friendly workshop offered by Radio Boot Camp designed to demystify one of the industry’s most powerful audio editing platforms. For those new to audio mixing, Adobe Audition can feel overwhelming at first—like stepping into a jet cockpit without proper training. This hands-on class provides that crucial first flight manual, guiding participants through the essential tools and workflows needed to create professional-quality audio content.
During this interactive workshop, attendees will learn how to import audio files, build sessions in a multi-track editor, adjust volume levels, and export polished final projects. Rather than simply lecturing about features, instructor Shawn Allee will guide participants through practical, real-world applications while they work directly in the software. The class culminates with an exciting opportunity for students to create their own Audition mix during the session, with Shawn serving as a knowledgeable copilot to answer questions and provide feedback.
This class is ideally suited for beginners and those just starting their journey into audio production. No previous experience with Adobe Audition—or audio editing in general—is required. Whether you’re a podcast producer looking to upgrade your editing skills, a radio journalist new to the platform, or simply someone eager to learn professional audio production, this workshop will equip you with the foundational knowledge to confidently navigate the software.
Shawn Allee, the instructor, is an experienced public radio and podcast editor and producer who has trained hundreds of audio professionals at WBEZ Chicago and beyond. His own work has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, Marketplace, On The Media, and This American Life. His expertise and mentoring approach make this an invaluable opportunity to learn from someone who has worked at the highest levels of public media.
The workshop is capped at 9 participants to ensure personalized attention. Participants must install Adobe Audition before the session begins, and wired headphones are recommended. The cost is $140.00. Please note that classes are non-refundable and will not be recorded, though attendees may transfer their ticket to someone else by notifying Radio Boot Camp. Participants will receive a Zoom link for the online workshop the day before it begins.
