Role Overview
We are looking for a highly organized and capable Assistant Editor to support our long-form YouTube and documentary-style golf content. This role goes beyond media management. The ideal candidate can organize footage, sync external audio when needed, build timelines, make editorial decisions, and create strong rough cuts that can be handed off to a Senior Editor for finishing.
Most projects involve long-form golf content, with source footage typically ranging from 3–6 hours across multiple cameras and audio sources. The Assistant Editor will be responsible for organizing this footage and building a coherent rough cut, often in the 60–90 minute range, that can then be refined by a Senior Editor. Final published videos typically range from 20–50 minutes in length, depending on the project.
Why This Role Exists
Our goal is to increase the volume and consistency of our long-form content without sacrificing quality. By bringing on an Assistant Editor, we aim to reduce the amount of time spent on footage review, syncing, organization, timeline assembly, and first-pass editing so that the Senior Editor can focus on storytelling, pacing, graphics, music, and final polish.
Success in this role is measured by how much meaningful editing time is saved and how effectively projects move through post-production. The ideal outcome is a workflow that allows us to increase our publishing cadence while maintaining the quality and storytelling standards our audience expects.
Core Responsibilities
- Download and organize source media
- Create project structures and folder hierarchies
- Sync external audio when appropriate
- Build coherent rough cuts from 3–6 hours of footage
- Make editorial decisions on pacing and narrative flow
- Prepare projects for handoff to Senior Editor
