Audio Engineer (Audio QA & Restoration)

Crossing Hurdles is hiring an Audio Engineering Specialist for a part-time remote position. This contract role offers flexible commitment levels of 10–40 hours per week, ideal for professionals with audio restoration expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Listen to short audio clips and classify audio artifacts such as noise, clipping, echo, misalignments, and compression-related issues
  • Produce precise annotations and detailed corrective feedback to support machine learning model improvement
  • Review and QA annotation work created by other contributors to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Document edge cases with clear notes and illustrative examples to contribute to shared annotation guidelines
  • Collaborate with training team to refine annotation procedures and improve inter-annotator agreement
  • Utilize and provide feedback on browser-based annotation tools and workflow optimizations
  • Maintain rigorous quality standards to ensure data integrity and effective communication

Requirements

  • Experience in audio annotation, descriptive captioning, transcription, podcast or audio editing, or audio QA
  • Strong background in audio restoration with proficiency in tools such as iZotope RX, Cedar Studio, Adobe Audition, or similar
  • Familiarity with audio engineering terminology and common recording or production faults
  • Experience using browser-based annotation tools and following structured workflows
  • Keen attention to subtle audio details and anomalies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with ability to work independently
