Audio Engineer
Flyspace Productions is seeking an experienced Audio Engineer to join our Production Team in Pittsburgh, PA. This position requires extensive knowledge of installing and operating audio systems in temporary venues for national-level artists, theatre, and corporate events. The majority of work will take place in Pittsburgh with occasional regional travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and configure audio systems including PA systems, wireless microphones, intercoms, and digital mixing consoles
- Prepare equipment in the shop and conduct quality control checks
- Direct implementation of equipment during transportation, load-in, shows, and load-out
- Operate FOH or monitor mixing consoles during live events
- Collaborate with producers, directors, and technical teams on audio requirements
- Diagnose and resolve audio issues during setup and live events
- Manage and mentor technicians and crew members
- Ensure compliance with industry safety and regulatory standards
- Maintain, repair, and manage audio equipment inventory
- Act as Site Lead when necessary
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications or degree in Audio Engineering or related field
- Proven expertise as an advanced A1 in live event production
- Proficiency with digital and analog consoles and RF management
- Experience with Dante Level 2, Waves SoundGrid, Line Array Systems, and Shure Wireless Workbench
- Knowledge of audio rigging and electrical systems
- Ability to lead and direct technicians and crew members
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills under pressure
- Professional understanding of the artistic process
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles
