As an Audio Engineer at Sofar, you’ll bring the magic on the sound desk at local shows throughout Los Angeles, ensuring intimate performances sound incredible.

About the Role

This is a month-to-month contract role requiring you to work consistent shifts (2-4 per month depending on show volume). You will bring your own gear to shows, including PA and mixer. The majority of shows take place during evenings on Thursday–Saturday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide live sound reinforcement for Sofar shows
  • Work with crew team and artists to prep and execute each show
  • Reference concert portal to ensure correct gear for each unique artist setup
  • Transport own gear to and from venues
  • Set up and load-in audio equipment at show beginning
  • Break down and load out audio equipment at show end
  • Maintain safe and appropriate audio levels for venue and audience size
  • Consult on audio requirements for venues, partnerships, and special shows

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with DIY audio setups, ideally at 50+ capacity shows
  • Own gear and ability to arrange transportation to and from shows
  • Passion for live sound and creative problem solving in unique venues
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with creative professionals
  • Effective troubleshooting abilities in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to move up to 75 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
