Position Overview

The Coordinator of Audio Services will serve as the chief recording engineer and audio technician in support of the academic and educational programs in the School of Music and instructor of Music Technology courses. This is an 11-month EPS-Non Faculty position at East Carolina University’s School of Music, located in Greenville, North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as chief recording engineer and audio technician supporting academic and educational programs while ensuring professional production standards across all School of Music activities
  • Provide consultation to faculty and guest artists regarding recording and sound reinforcement needs and develop workflows supporting instructional, recruitment, assessment, and promotional objectives
  • Provide sound design services for opera productions, theatrical presentations, multimedia performances, and contemporary music events, including creating and editing sound effects, designing playback systems, programming cue sequences, and integrating electronic media
  • Recruit, train, and oversee graduate and undergraduate students serving as engineering crews for campus events both on and off campus
  • Select and procure media and recording equipment and software; develop multi-year equipment replacement plans and prepare annual budget recommendations
  • Provide technical support for opera, jazz, contemporary music, and other productions, including designing and implementing audio reinforcement systems

Requirements

The position requires expertise in audio engineering, recording technology, and sound reinforcement. Ideal candidates will have experience working in academic or performance settings, knowledge of audio equipment and software, and the ability to collaborate with faculty, students, and performing artists to achieve high-quality audio production standards.
