Producer, The Playbook Podcast (Audio/Video)

POLITICO is seeking a skilled audio producer for the Playbook Podcast. In this role, you’ll oversee recording sessions, make creative decisions to shape episodes, ensure high quality and accuracy, and edit audio to completion. You’ll work closely with Playbook authors and editors to bring the insider insights of Washington to life for an audience of policymakers and political influencers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recording of the Playbook Podcast — including technical aspects and helping coach talent and guide editorial direction
  • Collaborate with Playbook authors, editors, and the audio/video team to identify daily topics
  • Edit and publish clean, final cuts of podcast episodes (and potentially video versions) under tight deadlines
  • Partner with teams across the newsroom on distribution and publishing
  • Monitor episode performance metrics and use audience insights to inform future episodes

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in podcast and video production, with significant experience in news, politics, or policy
  • Strong news judgment and deep familiarity with D.C. politics and policy
  • Strong editing ability; producing clean, polished audio under tight deadlines
  • Sharp editorial judgment and storytelling instincts grounded in journalistic standards
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with hosts, editors and cross-functional partners
  • Familiarity with audience analytics and platform metrics
  • Experience with multiplatform distribution and video podcast editing is a strong plus

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 5pm-12am. Please note your availability for this schedule in your application.
