About the Role

The Atlantic is seeking a short-term producer to join the team making a new weekly podcast hosted by David Brooks. This is a full-time position for up to one year. The ideal candidate will have a curiosity and familiarity with the world of the humanities, history and intellectual life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the host and editor to maintain editorial excellence and support host research
  • Manage end-to-end production of the show, from pre- to post-production, including booking guests, researching topics, and cutting episodes
  • Coordinate with the senior producer to manage bookings and show prep logistics
  • Book recording sessions and ensure proper setup of lighting, audio, and camera equipment for smooth recording experiences
  • Edit and enhance video content, adding graphics, transitions, and other elements to create polished final products
  • Ensure consistency in visual and audio quality across all episodes
  • Collaborate with audience team to create promotional video clips for social media
  • Handle all audio uploading to video and audio platforms
  • Work with teams across The Atlantic, including legal, art, audience, copy desk, story editors, and fact-checkers
  • Be prepared for night, early-morning, and weekend work as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in video production and editing, preferably in podcasting and journalism
  • Proficiency in taping and editing software such as Riverside, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro
  • Strong understanding of lighting, audio, and camera operation for high-quality video production
  • Experience with remote recording workflows
  • Outstanding editorial judgment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
