About the Role
The Rockefeller University seeks a Science Communications and Outreach Associate to participate in the Civic Science Fellows program and lead a community-engaged project focused on improving communication and trust around hepatitis B healthcare among Chinese and Chinese American communities in NYC. This 18-month position (September 2026-March 2028) is grant-funded and supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Institute for Global Infectious Disease Research. The Fellow will work at the intersection of community engagement, science communication, and media production.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a listening and landscape-learning phase within NYC Chinese and Chinese American communities
- Build relationships with community members, organizations, and communicators
- Co-create and test 4–6 culturally relevant media pieces grounded in community perspectives and hepatitis B research and healthcare
- Collaborate with leadership across Rockefeller (SNF Institute, RockEDU, Communications)
- Work with community members and local organizations to develop new approaches to health communication
- Produce multimedia content including podcasts, videos, and other media formats

RockEDU connects scientific and non-scientific communities to engage in the wonder of science as a justice-centered process. Our primary audiences are scientists, K-12 educators, high school students, and undergraduate students. Our initiatives are delivered in-person and online via streaming services and digital platforms.
