Senior Director of Podcasts
The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) research institute focused on national security and foreign policy, is seeking its first dedicated Senior Director of Podcasts. This leadership role will oversee four established shows—Foreign Podicy, The Iran Breakdown, Generation Jihad, and The FDD Morning Brief—and build the systems, team, and vision to elevate them into a consistently excellent, growing platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume editorial ownership of FDD’s podcast vertical, establishing narrative direction, programming priorities, and content standards
- Develop episode concepts, shape interview briefs, and ensure editorial quality and brand consistency
- Serve as primary editorial and operational liaison for all podcast hosts, managing scheduling, communications, and logistics
- Support guest outreach, booking coordination, and maintenance of logistical infrastructure
- Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the lineup, expand reach, and develop new show formats
- Build and lead the podcast team, delegating responsibilities and managing creative expectations
- Establish long-term strategic vision in partnership with show hosts
Ideal Candidate
- Strong editorial and content strategy background
- Substantive familiarity with U.S. foreign policy and national security issues
- Passion for podcast craft paired with diplomatic interpersonal skills
- Ability to earn trust and creative confidence of executive hosts
- Experience managing professional teams and complex editorial projects
- Understanding of podcast production, distribution, and growth strategies
