About Us
SCOTUSblog is the most trusted independent source of Supreme Court news and analysis in the world. For more than two decades, attorneys, judges, legal professionals, journalists, and anyone trying to understand the Court have relied on its rigorous, nonpartisan reporting and legal expertise. SCOTUSblog is owned by The Dispatch, a reader-supported digital media company, which acquired it in 2025.
We’re now investing in expanded editorial coverage, digital products, live events, and subscriptions. That includes SCOTUSblog Plus, a paid subscription we launched this fall for the people who follow the Court most closely.
The Role
You’ll develop new multimedia opportunities for SCOTUSblog and lead the day-to-day production and growth of Advisory Opinions (AO), the podcast hosted by Sarah Isgur and David French. We’re looking for an experienced, creative producer and strategic thinker who can identify opportunities across audio, YouTube, social, and live programming, develop compelling ideas, and bring them to life.
This is a full-time, hands-on role for someone who thinks like a showrunner and can take an established podcast to the next level. You’ll report to our VP of Multimedia, who oversees multimedia strategy and production, and work closely with AO and SCOTUSblog leadership on editorial priorities and growth goals.
What You’ll Do
Run Advisory Opinions
- Serve as the point person across the hosts, freelance video editors, and our social video producer, keeping every part of production on schedule.
- Lead day-to-day production of AO, overseeing editorial development, production workflows, quality control, and timely publication.
- Record, produce, edit, mix, and master each episode’s audio to a high standard, on deadline.
- Work closely with the hosts on episode planning, structure, pacing, and recurring elements.
- Plan coverage around the Supreme Court calendar, including decisions, oral arguments, legal-news developments, and special programming.
Grow the audience
- Develop and execute initiatives to grow AO’s audience across audio, YouTube, social, and live programming, using audience insights to inform decisions.
- Identify ways to evolve the show’s formats and programming, including special projects, bonus content, and new ways to engage audiences.
- Help turn AO episodes and legal-news developments into video highlights, Shorts, and other multimedia content, working with the relevant teams on production and packaging.
Build SCOTUSblog’s multimedia presence
- Help develop and produce AO’s live programming and the monthly live briefings for SCOTUSblog Plus subscribers, including production planning and coordination.
- Produce multimedia for SCOTUSblog’s live events, including live AO tapings, and coordinate promotion across social.
- Help launch and manage a dedicated SCOTUSblog YouTube channel and social media presence, working with colleagues across editorial, audience, and social on production and distribution.
- Identify additional multimedia opportunities to bring SCOTUSblog’s journalism and expertise to wider audiences.
What We’re Looking For

- A background in journalism or another editorially rigorous field.
- Excellent storytelling instincts and a strong ear for structure, pacing, clarity, and tone.
- Experience developing new programming, formats, or multimedia initiatives.
- Deep experience editing and mixing audio in a digital audio workstation such as Pro Tools or Adobe Audition.
- Strong organization and the ability to manage deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
- Comfort working on a small, fast-moving team where senior staff are both strategic and hands-on.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of the Supreme Court or legal journalism.
- Strong video editing skills, with professional experience in Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable software.
- A track record of growing a podcast, show, or editorial audience across platforms, particularly YouTube.
