Show Host for KUOW Soundside

KUOW is seeking a dynamic journalist and on-air storyteller to join as Show Host for its midday program Soundside. This role serves as one of two primary voices of a daily Monday–Thursday newsmagazine, helping shape conversations that inform, engage, and connect communities across the Puget Sound region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as one of two primary hosts of daily Monday–Thursday Soundside newsmagazine program
  • Research, write, and deliver live and recorded segments
  • Propose, prepare, and conduct interviews with compelling guests
  • Work closely with production team on content development and long-range editorial planning
  • Contribute to program development and continuous improvement
  • Identify story ideas and shape interview strategy
  • Represent KUOW publicly on-air, online, at community events, and through social media
  • Participate in breaking news coverage and special broadcasts as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Skilled interviewer, writer, and live broadcaster with strong editorial judgment
  • Deep commitment to public service journalism
  • Strong ability to research, write, and deliver compelling live and recorded content
  • Experience with two-way interviews, field reporting, and breaking news coverage
  • Ability to work collaboratively with production teams and community engagement staff
