Company Description:

Venture Media is a marketing partner focused on helping brands stand out by challenging norms and creating distinctive campaigns. The team combines strategic content marketing, full-funnel content creation, and podcast and social media growth to build measurable business outcomes rather than vanity metrics. Using insights from marketing, psychology, and technology, Venture Media designs content that is both creative and data-informed. Applicants can expect to join a fast-paced environment that values experimentation, clear strategy, and real-world results.

About This Role:

This is a new position. Our video output is growing, and we are adding a dedicated editor to the team to keep up with demand across multiple client accounts. You will be joining at a stage where your work directly shapes how our video operation runs.

Role Description:

The Social Media Video Editor is a full-time remote role responsible for producing short-form and long-form video content for social platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Day-to-day tasks include editing raw footage, optimizing aspect ratios and formats for various channels, adding motion graphics and text overlays, and performing color correction and sound refinement to align with brand guidelines. The role involves collaborating with content strategists and creators to translate scripts, talking points, and campaign objectives into engaging video narratives. The editor will also manage file organization, versioning, and export settings, and contribute ideas for improving storytelling, hooks, and audience retention based on performance data.

Three things matter most in this role: speed, quality, and communication. We need all three at the same time. Fast work that misses the mark creates rework. Great work that shows up late misses the moment. And neither works if we do not know where things stand.

We are not looking for the flashiest editor. Fancy transitions, heavy effects, and a reel full of motion graphics tricks do not impress us on their own. Plenty of beautiful videos get 400 views.

What we want is someone who thinks. Someone who understands why a specific clip will travel and another one will not. Someone who knows the difference between an edit that looks good and an edit that keeps someone watching to the end. If your instinct on a piece of footage is “what should this video actually say,” you are our person. If your instinct is “what effect should I add here,” you are not.

Taste and judgment come first. But we also move fast, so you need to be highly tech-savvy and fluent in the tools that let you deliver quality work quickly. That includes using AI to speed up the repetitive parts so your time goes into the decisions that matter.

What you will do

  • Short-form editing. Cut Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn video from podcast and interview footage. This is the core of the job.
  • Clip selection. Watch full episodes and pull the moments with the most potential. You decide what makes the cut.
  • Hook building. Write and design the first three seconds. Text, pacing, sound, visual, whatever earns the stop.
  • Fast, high-quality turnaround. Deliver polished edits on tight timelines without cutting corners. Use AI and automation tools to work faster, not sloppier.
  • Trend research. Study what is working on each platform and in each client’s niche, then apply it. We expect you to bring ideas, not wait for them.
  • Brand adaptation. Match each client’s look and voice. A cardiologist and a trading platform do not get the same edit.
  • Podcast editing. Clean up long-form episodes for YouTube and audio, including basic audio balancing and light graphics.
  • Performance feedback. Look at how videos actually did and let that shape the next batch. We will share the numbers with you.
  • Quality control. Check captions, spelling, aspect ratios, and safe zones before delivery. Fix your own mistakes before we find them.
  • Proactive communication. Keep the team updated on progress, flag blockers early, and speak up before a deadline is at risk, not after.

What we are looking for

  • 2 or more years of fast-paced editing for social media, with a portfolio of short-form video that proves it
  • Real instinct for what makes a video travel, not just clean technical execution
  • Strong grasp of storytelling, pacing, and emotional engagement
  • Highly tech-savvy, with strong proficiency in Premiere Pro and Descript (After Effects a plus)
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in your editing workflow
  • A track record of fast turnaround without sacrificing quality
  • Excellent communication: responsive, clear about your capacity, and upfront about timelines
  • Current knowledge of platform trends and what each one rewards
  • Comfortable taking direct feedback and revising without friction
  • Clear written English and comfort in an async remote setup
  • Must be in United States
  • Preferably based in the Southern California

Nice to have (not required)

  • Motion graphics, meme editing, or creative overlay work
  • Cinematic trailer or brand film experience
  • Experience with Frame.io and task managers like ClickUp

Who this is not for

This is not a fit if you need every decision made for you, avoid feedback, or go quiet when a deadline gets close. It is also not a fit if your value is purely technical, meaning you execute well but do not want to think about why a video works. And it is not a fit if you prefer to do everything manually and are not interested in learning new tools. We move fast, hold clear standards, and expect you to own your work.

What you’ll get

  • An hourly rate of $20 to $25 USD, based on your experience
  • Steady weekly volume across multiple client accounts, not one-off gigs you have to keep replacing
  • Real creative ownership. You pick the clips and build the hooks, and we back your calls
  • Room to grow into a lead editor seat with more hours and higher pay as our video output scales

Two things before you apply

  • No agencies. We are hiring an individual editor who does the work themselves. Agency and studio applications will not be reviewed.
  • Portfolio required. Portfolio required. Include your portfolio link in your resume. Applications without a portfolio link will not be reviewed. No exceptions.

Podwires will never ask you to pay fees, purchase equipment, or share sensitive financial information (bank details, SSN, credit cards) during the application process.
