About the Role
Mediaite is seeking an ambitious and energetic writer and/or editor to join our team covering politics, media, entertainment, sports, and everything in between. This full-time position requires keen editorial judgment to understand what makes a Mediaite story resonate with our audience. While the exact schedule has not yet been determined, it is almost certain that it will require some evening and/or weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and/or edit stories covering politics, media, entertainment, and sports
- Drive the news cycle with strong news judgment and editorial instincts
- Handle high volume of news stories—from breaking news to opinion pieces—moving quickly while maintaining editorial standards
- Identify issues bubbling up in conservative and liberal media before they’ve been widely reported
- Quickly scan podcasts and other long-form content for great potential posts
- Contribute to site coverage in fast-paced, clear-eyed, even-handed manner
Requirements
- Experience writing or editing in a fast-paced environment
- Strong grasp of Mediaite’s editorial focus and audience interests
- In-depth knowledge of news, politics, media, online personalities, cable/broadcast networks, and thought-leaders
- Ability to handle six things at once and make sound editorial decisions quickly
- Portfolio with links to at least 3 articles you’ve written or edited
