As a Youth Producer, you will work alongside experienced radio professionals to develop your skills in content creation, audio production, and broadcasting. This role is ideal for enthusiastic young people passionate about community radio, storytelling, and audio media.

  • Produce and contribute to radio programming and audio content for CHLY 101.7FM
  • Assist with recording, editing, and post-production of audio segments and podcasts
  • Support on-air broadcasts and community-focused programming
  • Collaborate with station staff and volunteers on creative projects
  • Develop skills in audio engineering, scriptwriting, and media production
  • Engage with the local Nanaimo community through radio storytelling

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, which means applicants must meet the program’s eligibility criteria (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred; between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment). Four positions are available for Summer 2026. CHLY is a community-centered station with a strong commitment to diverse voices and independent media — a fantastic environment for emerging audio producers to launch their careers.
