About Shannon

I’m an executive producer, writer, and investigative storyteller, and the founder of Moonpie Media, a boutique audio-first production company based in Austin, Texas. I create narrative, human-centered stories for brands and independent creators alike: work that sparks curiosity, fosters connection, and brings underrepresented voices and issues to light.

Through Moonpie, I developed, wrote, and produced three seasons of Edge of Reason with The Atlantic and Hauser & Wirth (Silver Signal Award, Cannes Lions shortlist) and two seasons of Sweets Unwrapped with The Atlantic and Ferrero. I’m also the writer and executive producer of The Good-Bye, a series about loss and the people who rebuild on the other side.

My investigative work runs deep. I’ve covered the Gilgo Beach case for a decade: I co-wrote and senior produced LISK: Long Island Serial Killer, and my reporting led me to consult on and appear in Peacock’s 2x Emmy-nominated docuseries The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets. I also wrote, produced, and hosted Yuba County Five. I’m now producing Pallas Athene, an independent investigative series supported by a 2026 grant from the Fund for Investigative Journalism.

My work has been featured on Stuff You Should Know, WABC, and PIX11, and covered by The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vogue, and others.

Let’s make something together.

What I Need from You

To scope your project, please share:

Budget: your total budget or range, and whether it covers production, talent, and distribution
Goals: what success looks like (audience growth, brand awareness, awards, a pitch to a network)
Where it will live: your own feed, a network, a brand channel, or an outlet you're pitching to
Audience: who it's for and what you want them to feel or do
Scope: number of episodes, target length, and format (narrative, interview, hybrid)
What you need from me: scripting, consulting, production management, or full series development
Timeline: launch date and any hard deadlines
Existing assets: recorded tape, research, transcripts, brand guidelines, prior episodes
Your team: who's already on board (host, editor, sound designer) and who needs to be hired
Deliverables: the final files and assets you need (audio formats, transcripts, show notes, social clips, video), so I can coordinate the right contractors
Decision-makers: who signs off on scripts and cuts

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you actually do on a project?
I script, consult, and manage production for narrative series. Depending on your needs, I can write episodes, shape a series from concept to structure, or run production by hiring and coordinating editors, sound designers, and other contractors.
Do you work with independent creators or only brands?
Both. I've made branded series for The Atlantic, Ferrero, and Hauser & Wirth, and I work with independent creators who want a narrative show with professional polish.
Can you help me develop an idea that isn't fully formed yet?
Yes. Development is one of my favorite parts of the process. I can help you find the story, define the format, and build a pitch or series bible.
Do you handle investigative or sensitive subjects?
Yes. I've reported on true crime and investigative stories for over a decade, and I approach sensitive material with care for those involved and rigorous attention to the facts.
How long does a series take?
It depends on scope, reporting, and how much tape already exists. A narrative season typically takes a few months from development to launch. I'll give you a realistic timeline once I understand the project.
How do you price projects?
Per episode or per project, based on scope. I'll send a custom quote after a discovery call. Contractor costs, like editing and sound design, are budgeted separately.
Can you help get my show distributed or pitched to a network?
I can help you shape a pitch and package your series for networks and platforms, and I'll share what I know about where it might fit. I can't guarantee placement.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, I'm happy to sign an NDA before discussing confidential projects.
Do you make interview or conversational shows?
Yes, as long as there's a story to tell. Narrative is my lane, and I believe in the power of storytelling to change minds, open hearts, and connect people. Even my interview-driven shows, like Edge of Reason and The Good-Bye, are framed with scripted narrative that gives each conversation shape, context, and emotional stakes. If you want an interview show that feels like more than a conversation, that's where I come in.
