ARIAS 2026 Celebrates Excellence in UK Audio Industry

The Audio Academy’s prestigious ARIAS 2026 ceremony took place at London’s iconic Roundhouse venue, bringing together the biggest names in radio, podcasting, and audio production for a night celebrating the UK’s thriving audio landscape.

Star-Studded Event Honors Industry Leaders

Hosted by television personality Rylan, the ceremony attracted an impressive guest list including Elizabeth Day, Dawn O’Porter, Nick Grimshaw, Vernon Kay, Ken Bruce, and Craig David, among many other industry luminaries. Kiss FM’s Tyler West served as red carpet host and conducted backstage winner interviews.

The evening featured standout performances from Ezra Collective’s Femi Koleoso and West End superstar Marisha Wallace, adding entertainment value to the industry recognition ceremony.

Major Winners and Recognition

Hits Radio claimed the highly coveted UK Radio Station or Radio Network of the Year Award, while BBC Sounds took home Audio Brand of the Year. Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James won Best Music Breakfast Show, continuing the BBC’s strong showing at the awards.

In the podcasting category, “How To Fail with Elizabeth Day” from Dove and Sony Music Podcasts won Best Commercial Partnership, highlighting the growing importance of podcast advertising and brand partnerships in the audio industry.

Special Recognition for Trevor Nelson

The evening’s most emotional moment came with the presentation of the Judges’ Special Recognition Award 2026 to veteran DJ and radio presenter Trevor Nelson, presented by musician Craig David. Nelson, who recently celebrated 30 years at the BBC, was recognized for his cultural impact on the British music scene.

“You’ve stitched me right up! I cannot tell you how much this means. That young me who started at KISS in the 80’s just wouldn’t believe any of this. I’m very humbled and grateful,” Nelson said upon receiving the award.

Independent Production Companies Shine

Several independent audio production companies were recognized for their excellence. TBI Media won Best Music Entertainment for the Romesh Ranganathan show on BBC Radio 2, while Reduced Listening took Best Social Impact for their “Criminally Queer” Radio 4 series. Pomona Audio received gold for Best Music Award for their “21st Century Folk” series, and Pozzitive won Best Drama or Fiction for BBC Radio 4’s “Four Gammons and a Unicorn.”

Notable New Talent Recognition

Singer-songwriter Beth Ditto was awarded Best New Presenter for her BBC Radio 6 Music show, demonstrating the continued evolution and diversification of radio talent. The ceremony also recognized Bloomberg’s Mishal Husain, whose interview with Nigel Farage won the public-voted Radio Times Moment of the Year for her professional handling of a challenging interview situation.

The ARIAS, formerly known as the Sony Radio Awards dating back to 1983, continues to serve as the leading annual showcase for the UK’s world-class audio industry talent and creativity.
