30 for 30: Murder at the U

Published on May 8, 2026

Part of ESPN’s award-winning 30 for 30 podcast, “Murder at the U” tells the story of the 2006 death of Bryan Pata, a rising star on the University of Miami football team who was headed to the NFL. Nearly two decades later, a former teammate was arrested and stood trial for Bryan’s murder.

As senior producer, I worked with the reporters and the 30 for 30 team to shape a seven-episode series from over 80 interviews; produced new interviews to fill in the remaining gaps; worked with our composer/sound designer to come up with the show’s sonic style, theme, and music cues; drafted the initial script and worked through rewrites with an editor and the reporters; recorded scratch mixes helped with the initial assembly; led and implemented revisions to the episode scripts; coached host tracking; and gave feedback on mixes from our sound designer and engineer. Throughout the project, I helped a large distributed team meet deadlines to stay on our production calendar.
