Cook Children’s Launches Two New Parenting Podcasts With Back-to-School Focus

Cook Children’s Health Care System in Fort Worth, Texas, launched two new podcasts Aug. 11 designed to provide parents and caregivers with trusted pediatric health information from physicians and clinicians at the health care system.

The English-language podcast, For Kids’ Sake, and its Spanish-language companion, Por Su Bienestar, debut as extensions of Checkup Newsroom, Cook Children’s health information platform launched in 2014. The initial episodes focus on back-to-school health topics including immunizations, establishing healthy routines and helping children manage first-day anxiety. For Kids’ Sake will release new episodes weekly, while Por Su Bienestar will publish episodes every other week. Both programs will be available in video and audio formats across major podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Google Podcasts, as well as on the Cook Children’s YouTube channel.

Cook Children’s expanded its health information offerings to reach families seeking reliable pediatric guidance online. The health care system said the new podcasts respond to parents’ need for clear, balanced perspectives on health topics from medical professionals who treat children daily. Each episode will feature conversations with Cook Children’s experts discussing pediatric health news and offering practical information families can apply at home.

“Our goal is to give caregivers trusted information directly from the people who care for children every day,” said Chelsea Kretz Howell, director of public relations at Cook Children’s and host of For Kids’ Sake. “Families are constantly sorting through information online. These podcasts create a place where they can get clear answers to the questions that matter most.” Howell added that the programs include an “Asking for a Friend” segment where clinicians answer listener-submitted questions and address common concerns families may hesitate to raise publicly.

The launch addresses growing demand among podcast listeners for health and parenting content delivered by credible medical sources. Healthcare organizations increasingly produce branded podcasts to build audience trust, educate the public and establish themselves as authoritative voices in their communities. Cook Children’s bilingual approach reflects broader industry recognition that audio content in multiple languages reaches underserved populations and expands audience reach.

Cook Children’s positions the podcasts within a media landscape where parents rely on digital channels for health information. The health care system’s investment in podcast production follows years of success with Checkup Newsroom, which has established the organization’s reputation for accessible pediatric health reporting. By extending that brand into audio, Cook Children’s enters a category already populated by health-focused podcasts from hospitals, clinics and medical institutions nationwide.

“Providing trustworthy health information in both English and Spanish allows us to better serve the diverse families in our communities,” said Lourdes Vazquez, multimedia storyteller at Cook Children’s and host of Por Su Bienestar. “We want parents and caregivers to feel informed, supported and confident when making decisions about their children’s health.” Future episodes will explore seasonal illnesses, safety concerns, mental health, nutrition and emerging pediatric health trends. Cook Children’s encourages listeners to submit questions through the organization’s Instagram accounts @Cookchildrens, @ForKidsSake and @PorSuBienestar.

The launch demonstrates how healthcare systems use podcast production to deepen community engagement and provide medical information in formats audiences increasingly prefer. For podcast producers and audio professionals working in the healthcare space, Cook Children’s bilingual approach and multi-platform distribution strategy illustrate industry best practices for reaching diverse audiences. The weekly and biweekly release schedules reflect common production strategies designed to maintain audience loyalty while managing content creation resources. As healthcare organizations expand into audio content, the market for podcast production services, editing and distribution support continues to grow for specialists serving the medical and wellness sectors.
